What is “IRONMAN”?

A 2.4-mile(3.86Km) ocean swim, 112-mile(180.2Km) bike race and 26.2-mile(42.2Km) run. Competitors have 17 hours to finish. Cutoff times are also applied to the swim (2:20 after start of race) and the bike (10:30 after the start of race). The average Ironman triathlete spends 18 to 24 hours each week training for this event. A typical week includes 7 miles(11Km) of swimming, 225 miles(360Km) of biking and 48 miles(77Km) of running. Many competitors also cross-train with weight training, stretching and yoga, among other activities.

What is “Triathlon”?

… is an athletic contest that consists of three events, usually swimming, cycling and running.

What is “Duathlon”?

The sport of duathlon is different from that of biathlon, which is an official term for the Olympic sport of skiing and shooting. Duathlon combines the sports of cycling and running. Typically contested in run - bike - run formats.
